Nifuroxazide acts on gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, as well as on gram-negative bacteria (Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia, Klebsiella). It is ineffective against bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas, Proteus, Providentia. It does not work on fungi of the genus Candida. The action of the substance is based on inhibiting the reproduction of bacteria and not strictly on killing them.
