Sirdalud contains a substance called tizanidine, which is a skeletal muscle relaxant. For each drug, increasing the dose is associated with a higher likelihood of side effects. In the case of Sirdalud, this risk is even greater because it is a substance with a narrow therapeutic index and, in addition, its concentration in the body after administration of the same dose varies significantly between patients. This means that in this case we choose the dose typically for a given patient, so as to achieve a therapeutic effect with a low percentage of side effects. Even a slight increase in the dose can cause the concentration of the drug in the blood to exceed the therapeutic concentration, which is associated with an increase in side effects.
