The decision on the combined treatment is up to the attending physician. Both Avamys and Flixotide contain a steroid, fluticasone (these are its different salts). The nasal spray, Avamys, is used to treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis , including feeling of nasal congestion, nasal discharge and itchy nose, sneezing, tearing, itching and redness of the eyes in adults and children from 6 years of age. Flixotide is an inhalation aerosol used in bronchial asthma. The active substance of the drug, fluticasone propionate, is a corticosteroid with a local anti-inflammatory effect in the lungs. In the case of using the above-mentioned drugs for a long period of time, inhibition of the natural production of steroid hormones by the adrenal glands may occur. This can cause bone loss, cataracts, glaucoma, weight gain, rounding of the face (lunar shape), increased blood pressure, slowing growth in children and adolescents. Your doctor checks that you are not affected by any of these side effects, and using both medicines at the same time increases the risk of steroid therapy side effects.
