Helicobacter pylori - gastric and duodenal ulcers
Because of Helicobacter pyroli I take Metranidazole already on the 10th day. A strong itch quickly appeared and lasts a week. The doctor is only in a few days, so I wanted to apply Clotrimazolum ointment to the area temporarily. However, it contains alcohol strictly prohibited with Metranidazole. Can I use the ointment or will it interact? Thank you!

The alcohols (e.g. benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol) contained in Clotrimazolum creams available on the pharmacy market do not interact with the oral metronidazole. In the event that you suspect that the itching of the anus is due to a fungal infection, there are no contraindications to the use of the cream. I send an example description of clotrimazolum cream: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/18713/clotrimazolum-hasco-krem/apteki When using Metronidazole, it is contraindicated to use ethyl alcohol (ethanol), e.g. beer, wine, vodka: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/48758/metronidazol-polpharma-tabletki/apteki You can read more about whether it is possible to combine drugs with alcohol in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czy-mozna-laczyc-leki-z-alkoholem
