Can I use Symformin XR 750 if I have irritable bowel syndrome?

Is it possible to use symformin xr 750 for irritable bowel syndrome? I have irritable bowel syndrome and take Tribux forte 2 times a day. The doctor prescribed me symformin xr without a general history and I do not know if it is safe.

The drug Symformin XR 750 are tablets with prolonged release of the active substance - metformin. It is mainly used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is not a direct contraindication to the use of drugs with metformin. However, it is worth knowing that at the beginning of therapy with this drug, you may feel disorders of the digestive system, such as: bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. They are temporary and disappear spontaneously during treatment, but in combination with the symptoms accompanying IBS, they can be a great discomfort for you. If you are not convinced of the therapy prescribed by your doctor, I encourage you to consult again.
