A blood or urine pregnancy test may indicate a false positive result when chorionic gonadotropin is in the patient's body for a reason other than the current pregnancy: just after childbirth, miscarriage or abortion, in connection with the intake of fertility support drugs containing gonadotropin in the composition and with a rare type of ovarian cyst producing this hormone. Testing for the level of chorionic gonadotropin from blood in the laboratory does not require special preparation. When testing from urine using a home test, follow the recommendations of the test manufacturer. Hello. Recently, my cycles have been swinging, between 29 days and 32 days. According to the calendar, as of today, my 5th day period is late. I did a pregnancy test the day before my expected menstrual period and it came out very pale. I repeated it on Monday and the same thing. Yesterday I went to the beta and the result was 27.30 and progesterone 6.14
Something is wrong, right? Can I wait until Tuesday for an appointment with a gynaecologist with such results? I have an appointment.

Good morning
In my case, the situation is as follows 1.03 Beta 24.69 3.03 46.89 5.03 108.06 On 5.03 there was a fever, a positive test for influenza B 11.03 Beta 448.16 13.03 beta 455.06 The gynaecologist said that he would not see anything on the ultrasound anyway and said that within 7 days there would be abortifacient bleeding. Today there was a temporary engine pain in the lower abdomen Does it make sense to repeat the beta after 48 hours? Is everything already obvious . Of course, hope dies last Thank you for your reply

Tell me, I donated blood for hCG was 147 on ultrasound nothing, then I donated again became 50 after 2 days 45 . After 2 Sundays, 52 and then a second after 5 days became 59
What could it be?

Anna Lewandowska Pharmacist, Editor

To @Зара:

Both the drop in hCG levels and the bleeding are worrying, as hCG levels tend to rise in a healthy pregnancy. However, the interpretation of the results depends on the exact dynamics of the changes, the quality of the measurements and the ultrasound image. The difference between the age of pregnancy with an ultrasound and counting since the last menstrual period may be due to later ovulation. In this situation, further observation, repeat examinations and follow-up ultrasound are necessary to assess the development of the embryo and the possible risk of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. It is best to consult your doctor as soon as possible.

Зара (Anonymous, 62.217.191.) 4 months ago

Hello!
When I saw two stripes on the test, I donated blood for hCG and the result was 288. After I went for an ultrasound, I was told that according to the ultrasound five weeks and six days, And if you count from the last menstruation, then it should be about seven weeks. It is possible that ovulation could have affected later.

A second ultrasound was prescribed. But four days after the initial ultrasound, there was a slight bleeding, I quickly went to the gynecologist and donated blood again for hCG, the result is 23504 and it is written Abnormal result (not a numerical result). I understand that perhaps this is a risk of miscarriage or poor fetal development, at least I read everything on the Internet, but how serious is it?

Hello, I'm 37 years old. Over the last three years, I have undergone 3 biochemical pregnancies and two unsuccessful transfers. Now on the 14th day after ovulation my bhcg was 105.9 , 16 dpo 244 , 18dpo 409.1. On the occasion of other tests at the clinic, I asked the doctor to order a Bhcg repeat and to my surprise the result is at the level of 1.23. I will add that every other day I do plate tests and EVERY time the test line is darker. Is it possible for the laboratory to make a mistake?

To @Cocolina:

As a general guideline, beta-hCG levels should double every 2-3 days, so in your case, the growth rate seems to be a bit slower than expected. On the one hand, this may suggest certain abnormalities (e.g. risk of miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy), but on the other hand, individual differences in hormone production are also possible, which do not always have to mean a problem.

For a more complete diagnosis, it is important that you consult your treating doctor. The doctor may order further beta-hCG tests, as well as an ultrasound to assess whether the pregnancy is developing properly and whether there is no risk of complications.

Please remember that beta-hCG results are only one of many factors in assessing the status of pregnancy. Your doctor will be able to best assess the situation based on the totality of your symptoms and outcomes.

To @Gianna:

An increase in beta-hCG values, even if it is slow (222 out of 507), is promising and does not necessarily indicate an ectopic pregnancy (GEU) or the risk of miscarriage. Further tests are crucial in such a situation, including further beta-hCG tests and follow-up ultrasound, which will allow the doctor to better assess the situation.

Risk factors such as age over 40 and health problems (glaucoma and thyroiditis) can affect the course of pregnancy, but they do not always mean negative outcomes. The slow growth of beta-HCG may be a concern, but it is not a clear indicator of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. It is important that you continue to work with your gynaecologist and follow his recommendations for further examinations.

Gianna (Anonymous, 87.17.110.) 7 months ago

Howdy
Thank you in advance for any answer. Last menstruation 6/10, I made first beta on 9/11 with result 222, repeated on 15/11 with result 507, I feel similar menstrual pains, no leakage at the moment, in general I feel quite good. The gynecologist advised me to redo beta next 20/11 and the next day control echo. The wait wears me out because I already have a baby but, before him, I had a miscarriage and it was a trauma. In addition, I am over 40 and have some health problems (glaucoma with eye drops and thyroiditis). I know that these factors do not bode well, I wondered if a constant but slow growth of betas, as in my case, was a sure sign of abortion/geu and if there are drugs that can affect the result of betas. Thank you very much.

To @Magdamagi:

The beta hCG results you present indicate a decrease in hormone levels from 12.4 mIU/ml to 10.7 mIU/ml within three days. In the case of pregnancy, the level of beta hCG should double every 48-72 hours. A decrease or slight increase may suggest problems such as miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. I encourage you to repeat the beta hCG test and consult your gynaecologist for a more accurate diagnosis.

Up to @Roksana:

The HCG test result means that you are not pregnant. According to the norms, a beta-hCG level below 5 mIU/ml indicates that you are not pregnant. Please remember that the beta HCG test has the highest reliability performed about 6-12 days after ovulation. Beta HCG can be considered reliable if it has been performed after at least 7 days after intercourse.

A decrease in beta-hCG levels can have various causes, such as miscarriage, abnormal pregnancy development, or laboratory error. In this situation, I recommend that you immediately consult your gynecologist, who will be able to determine the cause of the drop in beta-HCG levels in the blood and perform an ultrasound. Your spotting is also worrying, you should report the fact and length of its occurrence to your doctor.

Up to @Mama two:

Based on the presented beta-hCG results and the symptoms you describe, it can be assumed that a biochemical pregnancy has occurred. The first beta-hCG result (1.10 mlU/ml) may have suggested early pregnancy, but a drop to 0.16 mlU/ml in the next test indicates no further pregnancy development.

A biochemical pregnancy is a situation in which the hormone beta-hCG is detected, but the embryo does not develop properly, which often ends in an early miscarriage. Symptoms such as lower abdominal pain and aching breasts can be related to both pregnancy and normal hormonal changes before menstruation. In case of further doubts or worrying symptoms, it is recommended to consult a gynaecologist, who can order additional tests and assess the situation.

Mama dwójki (Anonymous, 89.161.51.) 9 months ago

Hello, I have a question because I am in this situation for the first time. Let me add at the beginning that I am already a mother of two children. I had my last menstrual period on 13.08.24, intercourse with my partner took place on fertile days two days before ovulation (according to the calendar app and I will add that I almost always have strong ovulation, I always feel it and now it was the same) I did a beta hcg blood test quite quickly, 6 days after ovulation and the result came out 1.10mlU/ml. I had lower abdominal pain until yesterday and aching breasts, my period will be late, so today I did beta hcg from my blood again and it came out 0.16. Please tell me what this could mean and why previously the beta was higher just 6-7 days after ovulation, and now it has dropped and I don't have this period. Please advise.

To @Martamarta:

Based on the presented research results, there is a high probability that we are dealing with a biochemical pregnancy.

The drop in beta-hCG to 7.97 mIU/ml after 48 hours is worrying, because in a normal pregnancy the level of beta-hCG should increase. Progesterone levels also decreased significantly from 10.14 ng/mL to 1.11 ng/mL over 48 hours. Such a drastic decrease in progesterone is often associated with the loss of early pregnancy. In the luteal phase of a normal menstrual cycle, progesterone levels should be higher, usually above 10 ng/ml.

A pale line on a pregnancy test combined with low levels of beta-hCG can also suggest a biochemical pregnancy. Amenorrhea may be related to hormonal disorders caused by biochemical pregnancy.

In this situation, I encourage you to consult a gynaecologist to confirm the diagnosis, monitor the situation and discuss possible treatment options, especially in the context of planning a future pregnancy.

Martamarta (Anonymous, 188.33.248.) 11 months ago

Pale line on the pregnancy test, 15 days after ovulation beta 22.24mIU/ml progesterone 10.14ng/ml, after 48h decrease: beta 7.97mIU/ml progesterone 1.11ng/ml. Amenorrhea... Is it a biochemical pregnancy? I will add that on the 8th day after ovulation, progesterone at the level of 6.91ng/ml. Is its level not too low?

To @Gosia:

Given the presented results of beta hCG studies, there is reason for caution and further observation.

In the first trimester of pregnancy, plasma levels of the hormone beta hCG should double on average every 48-72 hours. The increase from 125.30 mIU/mL to 315.56 mIU/mL in 8 days is slower than expected. With normal pregnancy development, the level should be much higher after 8 days.

A slower increase in beta hCG levels may indicate a risk of miscarriage, the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy, or abnormal pregnancy development. In this situation, it is necessary to consult a gynecologist. An ultrasound examination may be indicated to assess the development of the pregnancy.

It should be remembered that the beta hCG value alone is not the only indicator of normal pregnancy development. It is important to monitor the growth dynamics of the hormone and to perform imaging tests.

Hello, please tell me, my husband and I are planning a child, we went to the doctor, everything seems to turn out, on the 6th day after ovulation I did a test, it turned out to be positive, the second strip was easily colored. After some time, I repeated the test, everything showed the same, but I go to work, where it is not easy physical labor .. and all day long on my feet, I started to hurt from the bottom .. I came and repeated the test, it was positive .. But I was a little worried and cried .. I did a test early but already electronic, it showed 1-2 weeks of pregnancy .. After 2 hours, I did a routine test, it showed a barely noticeable second strip. Question: Can hCG levels drop due to stress?

Angelika Talar-Śpionek Pharmacist, Editor

It would be best to repeat the test and see if the beta HCG level continues to drop or maybe rise.
The result should be consulted with a doctor. If the result decreases - it may mean a miscarriage. An increase in beta HCG levels can mean pregnancy.

Hello. Wyn8k beta 19.4 after 72 hrs 7.7 what does it mean, is it a miscarriage?

Anna Lewandowska Pharmacist, Editor

By @Karina_m.r.:

A drop in beta-hCG levels between the two tests does not necessarily mean a miscarriage, but it can be a sign of abnormal pregnancy development.

Typically, in a normally developing pregnancy, beta-hCG levels should double every 48-72 hours. A decrease in the level instead of an increase may signal:
* A pregnancy at risk (e.g. bleeding that has not yet occurred)

* Twin pregnancy (one of the embryos has stopped developing)

* Abnormal location of pregnancy (e.g. extrauterine pregnancy)

A decrease in beta-hCG requires further observation, but does not determine pregnancy failure. With no bleeding or other symptoms, there is hope that the result will increase again and the pregnancy will develop normally. Sometimes the hormone levels can drop and then rise again and the pregnancy will develop properly.

Therefore, it is important to regularly monitor beta-hCG levels and perform an ultrasound to assess the development of the embryo. If the level increases in subsequent tests and the ultrasound confirms the normal development of the pregnancy, there is no reason to worry.
