Cosopt and Truspot should not be used interchangeably. Cosopt is a two-component preparation - it contains two active substances: dorzolamide and timolol. Trusopt contains dorzolamide alone. The timolol in Cosopt reduces the amount of aqueous humor formed. However, in some studies, a slight increase in the possibility of aqueous humor outflow was also observed. The combined effect of both substances - dorzolamide and timololi causes a greater reduction in intraocular pressure than each of these substances administered separately. Therefore, if the doctor recommended the use of Cosopt drops, switching to Trusopt may not bring satisfactory results of therapy.
