'Good morning. I wanted to ask if getting pregnant in this situation is likely. When taking the antibiotic duomox, I protected myself in two ways (vines tablets and a condom), but the condom slipped off at the end of intercourse. It stayed inside and I immediately pulled it out. I am afraid that there may have been fertilization. Is there a high risk of getting pregnant? I will add that I also have t1 diabetes.

The effectiveness of hormonal contraception may be reduced when using antibiotics due to the fact that they disrupt the composition of the bacterial flora in the intestines, necessary to convert the hormones contained in all types of tablets into active forms, which limits their absorption from the tablets into the blood. The use of an additional method of contraception, which is a condom during antibiotic therapy, is most advisable. If the contraceptive pills were used regularly, vomiting and diarrhea did not occur during the intake, the risk of pregnancy is low, but if the condom is slipped, it cannot be 100% excluded. In order to exclude pregnancy, it is best to perform a pregnancy test.
