Cortiment MMX does not directly affect the increase in the number of platelets. It contains budesonide as an active substance and is indicated for the induction of remission in adult patients with an active form of ulcerative colitis, where treatment with 5-ASA preparations is insufficient. The cause of thrombocytopenia in this case is probably chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
