Good morning I am currently taking amitriptyline 1 tablet per night (the drug was discharged as a sedative for IBS), today the drug fluoxetine was assigned. Is it possible to use fluoxetine and amitriptyline . Thank you.

It is not recommended to use amitriptyline and fluoxetine together. Such a combination can cause, m.in, drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation and urinary retention, and increase the risk of dangerous serotonin syndrome. Wait at least 14 days after discontinuation of amitriptyline before starting treatment with fluoxetine.
