Regular alcohol consumption causes changes in receptors in the brain and in the course of chemical interactions. It affects the concentration of many neurotransmitters in the brain (not just dopamine). Alcohol stimulates the so-called reward center in the brain, stimulating the secretion of dopamine. As a consequence, it depletes the dopamine resources available in the brain, which leads m.in to depressive states. The occurrence of adverse effects of dopamine deficiency (such as neurotic states) is individually conditioned. It is estimated that men are more likely to experience a possible deficiency. In addition, some patients are more prone to fluctuations in dopamine levels in the brain than others. In the event that the patient feels adverse symptoms of dopamine deficiency, it is recommended to consult a doctor who will recommend appropriate therapeutic treatment and facilitate the termination of alcohol consumption.
