At the moment, Mir-19 has been registered on the territory of Russia. The drug would have to obtain permission from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) before being placed on the market in European Union countries. To do this, the entity responsible for Mir-19 would have to submit an application to the EMA for marketing authorization of the product. We have no information whether such an action is planned by the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency responsible for the preparation. According to Russian researchers, Mir-19 is supposed to inhibit the replication (multiplication) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and thus protect against the most severe effects of the disease, such as pneumonia or acute respiratory failure. It is administered intranasally. Information is also available that this drug is supposed to interrupt the course of the disease already at the initial stage of infection.
