Hello. I took half a tablet of zyrtec before 10 am due to the worsening of allergic symptoms to pollen. Last year I also used this drug and everything was ok. Now I observed a terrible dry mouth and thus difficulty swallowing. Bibs do not produce enough saliva. I drink water every now and then. should I discontinue this medication? Will it pass? Do I need medical attention?

Yes, they do not contain the active substance in Clatra.
Thank you for your reply. I am also allergic to clatra when it comes to p/allergic drugs. Will I be able to take the ones proposed by you above? For now, I "save" calcium but it barely relieves the symptoms.

Symptoms should pass after you stop taking Zyrtec. So far, isolated cases of dry mouth have been reported with cetirizine (the active ingredient in Zyrtec), but this may happen. You can use other antiallergic medicines containing substances that are less likely to cause these types of side effects, e.g. desloratadine, levocetirizine or fexofenadine. Examples of preparations containing these substances can be found in the links below: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/89255/hitaxa-fast-tabletki-ulegajace-rozpadowi-w-jamie-ustnej/apteki https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/19716/contrahist-allergy-tabletki-powlekane/apteki https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/106968/allertec-fexo-tabletki-powlekane/apteki Reporting side effects to a doctor or individually allows you to collect more information about safety of the use of drugs and update data on them, which can help other patients in the future.
