Good morning, please explain because I got conflicting information on this portal about the supplement carbosal syrup for children. I mean the component of carbon, namely whether there is activated carbon or is there only as a dye e153. One lady wrote back to me that there is no activated carbon because there is only a dye and the other that this carbon has adsorption properties.

Yes. The ingredients are listed in descending order. In the first version of the composition, coal is in the first place, so it is the most. In the second case, carbon as a dye E153 is listed as the last of the components. Therefore, it performs a coloring function in this case. Due to the fact that the process of obtaining E153 dye and vegetable carbon is the same, it is possible that it is the same ingredient, but in much smaller quantities and you would have to drink very large amounts of syrup to obtain adsorbent properties.
Thank you for your reply. So in the second version, coal does not have its properties and occurs only as a color yes?

Both answers are correct. Carbosal syrup can have different compositions: No. 1(older version): 2.08 g Carbo activatus, natural flavored with cola flavor, Sirupus Simplex. Here there is activated carbon with adsorbent properties. No. 2 (newer version): Sugar syrup, blueberry fruit extract (blackberry - Vaccinium myrtilius fructis) 4:1, vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), dye - vegetable carbon E 153, cola aroma. Here, the main ingredients are blueberry fruit extract and vitamin C, and carbon is a vegetable dye. Please check what syrup you have in your medicine cabinet.
