Should I worry if I have a brown tongue after Octeangin?

Brown tongue after using the drug Octeangin. 24h after the last tablet still unchanged. There is not a word about it in the leaflet. Should I worry? And will it pass?

Indeed, discoloration of the tongue is not listed as a known side effect of the drug Octeangin, so it is difficult to answer whether it will pass and whether it can be dangerous in some way. If the discoloration does not pass and you are concerned, I suggest contacting a doctor for a direct examination (Octeangin is a prescription drug). Identified, possible side effects of Octeangin are irritation of the oral mucosa and stomach, such as taste disturbances, dry mouth, dyspepsia, nausea or abdominal pain and allergic reactions. This does not mean that other side effects (not described in the leaflet) cannot occur. I encourage you to report such an adverse reaction: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-i-dlaczego-zglaszac-dzialania-niepozadane

I had it too: angina, prescribed octeangin, brown tongue after 2 tablets. I stopped it right away and after a few days it was ok, and there are other drugs for angina that don't cause it. Anyway, other prescribed medications worked and I will never go back to octeangine. The doctor said that the active ingredients can cause a disturbance of the bacterial flora in the oral cavity and in addition to killing the "bad" ones, they also kill the "good" ones. I recommend putting it away right away. Someone wrote that the doctor said it was because of strep throat and gave me an antibiotic. I'm not a doctor, but I don't agree – my angina was cured without antibiotics. Interestingly, after a specialist toothpaste (the high-end one, recommended by the dentist), which was supposed to protect against tartar build-up, I also got such stains. What's more, it tasted identical to octeangin... That's why I dare say that it's the fault of some ingredient, not the effect of strep throat... I think that if you have such a problem, change your medications. And only when the strep throat does not pass or it gets worse, then you should consider an antibiotic. Doctors sometimes prescribe antibiotics like candy. I'm not against them, but you have to use common sense... I hope that this opinion will help someone make a decision. But I see that these brown stains after octeangine often happen...

I used Octeangin for a few days for a severe sore throat. He didn't help, a brown coating appeared on the tongue. Finally, I went to the doctor, he said that I developed angina and the brown coating is from angina, not from lozenges. He started antibiotic therapy. Waiting for improvement...

I see that I'm not the only one with a brown tongue and bitterness in my mouth. I used to have ringworm of the tongue - symptoms very similar, brown tongue and bitterness in the mouth after steroid drugs - then I had a brown tongue and disgusting bitterness in the mouth. In my opinion, it is necessary to check whether this drug does not lead to ringworm of the tongue!

Hello, unfortunately, in addition to the loss of taste, I also have a brown tongue. I took Octeangin for only 5 days and not only did it not help (my throat hurts for three weeks), but the coating has been going on for a week despite washing my tongue.

In my case, the same, viral acute pharyngitis - octeangin, glimbax as the main drugs and brown coating on the tongue. Before the use of the medication, the coating was yellow.

Girls, how long did this brown tongue last after stopping the drug?

Gosia (Anonymous, 2a02:a310:839a:2580::) 8 months ago

Good evening, the last time I used octeangin was 2 weeks ago and the brown coating on the tongue still persists. If this is indeed a side effect of this drug, it is actually a long time... What did it look like for you? How long did this raid last on the tongue?

Kasia  (Anonymous, 37.47.138.) 13 months ago

I took octeangin for almost two weeks, brown tongue the same, the question was whether the antibiotic was the toxins or just octeangin, the family doctor told me to stop taking octeangin

Do@Pepe:
Glimbax does not cause these types of changes in the mouth. This is one of the side effects of Octeangin, usually goes away after a few days after the end of the treatment.

It's the same for me... in the treatment of angina. It looks terrible. The only thing that worries me is the fact that it's been a week since the end of the treatment and the tongue is still not perfect, and I have the impression that brownish-black tartar has settled on my teeth. I hope it goes down. I'll just add that I rinsed my mouth with Glimbax, maybe it's the culprit?

I'm struggling with this problem too. Tell me, did you get over it? And after how long?

Ania (Anonymous, 89.25.201.) 19 months ago

I've also been taking this medication for a few days now and I have a brown tongue and numbness. There is some coffee extract. Maybe it's discoloring.

I also have brown spots after taking this medication with strep throat.

jula (Anonymous, 31.183.152.) 1 year ago

I had that too. I used the tongue scraper a few times and washed my tongue with a toothbrush and after two or three days it was gone

Today the doctor prescribed me this disgusting drug cteangin I lost almost 30 zł and after the first tablet I experienced terrible bitterness in the mouth and I know that I will not take it again!!! There are so many proven and effective drugs that you should eliminate such bubbles from the market and simply do not buy them. I heartily advise against money thrown down the drain!!!

What treatment is implemented for a raid on the tongue after octeangin ?

Lusi (Anonymous, 83.4.57.) 2 years ago

I used Octeangin for 5 days and also from the second day of use I had a brown tongue, as if "burned out" from decontamination and taste disturbances appeared. I am the second day without this drug, but the taste has not yet returned ... although it seems to me that it is a little better :( For my viral pharyngitis, Octeangin unfortunately did not work.

sandra p (Anonymous, 89.64.102.) 2 years ago

I have the same thing. In addition, the tongue is numb.. Strange.

Bez covidu (Anonymous, 178.43.251.) 2 years ago

I also have such a dinner. I do not take other medications currently, the tongue on the 2nd day became brownish. I will, of course, report this to the doctor.
