Should Dexaven be discontinued gradually?
I get Dexaven 8mg injections every day for 10 days for sciatica. Should they be discontinued gradually so that there is no withdrawal effect?

Gradual discontinuation of the drug is usually implemented only when the patient has received a dose greater than physiological (about 1 mg of dexamethasone) over a period of more than 3 weeks. 10 days can then be considered as short-term use.
Is 10 days a long-term treatment?

Stop taking Dexaven as directed by your doctor. From the documentation of the drug "After long-term treatment, discontinuation of glucocorticosteroids must always proceed gradually to avoid acute adrenal insufficiency. The dose should be reduced gradually over several weeks or months, depending on the dose used and the duration of treatment." Moreover, although uncommon, mental disorders may occur after discontinuation of the drug. Therefore, if you experience any alarming symptoms after discontinuation of injections, you should immediately see a doctor.
