Yes, if you had intercourse the day before the cytology was taken, the material taken may be contaminated and the result unreliable. You should not have intercourse at least 24 hours before the planned examination. Even if a condom was used during intercourse, since the latex present in its composition has an effect on the purity of the resulting material.
