All commercially available drugs - including Setaloft and Trittico - are checked for safety and efficacy. When a pharmaceutical company places any drug on the market, it must prove that it is safe and effective. Therefore, it conducts so-called clinical trials - first on experimental animals, and then on humans. Whether a drug is safe and effective enough to be on the pharmacy shelf is assessed by the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products. The quality of the drug, i.e. whether it has no harmful impurities or bacteria, is also supervised by the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector. Setaloft and Trittico are therefore effective drugs in the treatment of compulsive neurosis. Both drugs work only after at least 2 weeks, often - longer. At the beginning of therapy, some side effects may intensify - it can be said that this is the "normal" stage of therapy in the course of treatment with agents that affect the level of the neurotransmitter in the brain - serotonin. In particular, this applies to thoughts of self-harm or suicide, but the patient may also feel powerless, tired, weak, worsening depression or anxiety, sweating, muscle tension, throbbing, a feeling of tremor or heat in different parts of the body, restlessness, vomiting or anorexia. Also, other side effects may be more pronounced at the beginning of therapy, but they usually pass after 2-3 weeks. This is due to the fact that drugs weaken the perception of anxiety quite quickly, but do not immediately have an antidepressant effect. If the patient is not able to cope during the adaptation period due to numerous side effects, he should consult a doctor and not give up therapy. If it is not possible to talk to the attending physician, he should consult the general practitioner, e.g. by phone: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/app/blog/jak-telefoniczne-otrzymac-recepte-i-zwolnienie-lekarskie In selected cases, the doctor may at the beginning of treatment include emergency sedatives and hypnotics for a period of about 2 weeks, e.g. alprazolam. They will help to eliminate or weaken the side effects that the drug causes in the initial period of therapy. Due to the possibility of tolerance, however, it is not recommended to use them for more than 14 days. Usually, after this time - in a "critical" situation - you can take such a preparation from time to time, e.g. at night. Your doctor may also consider reducing your dose (usually by half) and gradually increasing it every 5-7 days until you reach the correct dose.
