Preparations available in pharmacies, e.g. those with lipoic acid, have the status of a dietary supplement, so by definition - they do not have the properties of treating diseases - they are not medicines: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czym-roznia-sie-leki-od-suplementow However, they can supplement the daily diet with missing ingredients and support possible therapy carried out with the help of drugs with the status of drugs - in your case those with a prescription. It is clear from your description that pharmacotherapy with the help of a specific neurological preparation is necessary, which will be prescribed to you by a doctor familiar with your health condition, e.g. a neurologist. Sometimes there are situations in which the description of the action of a given drug from the leaflet does not fully reflect how it would help a given patient. However, you should be aware that many drugs are also successfully used off-label in other diseases that the manufacturer does not provide. This is the so-called "off-label" use of the drug: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami usually based on the knowledge and experience of the doctor. This is a common practice – helpful and safe for many patients. In such a situation, however, you should trust the doctor conducting the therapy and strictly follow his instructions. In this situation, it is also worth talking about appropriate supplementation - if the doctor indicates specific substances that could actually help you supplement your diet, I will be happy to suggest specific products. Any drug - including Faxolet ER - may or may not cause side effects. The manufacturer of the drug is obliged to inform the patient about all possible side effects that may be related to the use of his preparation, but this does not mean that everyone will see all of them. The information attached to the drug contains important tips that should be analyzed before its use. Such a benefit-risk assessment should be made by a doctor familiar with your medical history. Please do not worry in advance about the effects you write about, but focus on the correct implementation of therapy, which is the key to avoiding them. Fear of possible side effects or possible effects of the drug, which is not known to you, may hinder the treatment process and have a greater impact on the occurrence of side effects than the drug itself. Stress before reaching for the drug can lead to abandonment of therapy, which in consequences can be much worse for health than possible side effects that may or may not occur. The warnings contained in the leaflet must not be underestimated, but common sense should be maintained. If your doctor has prescribed a medication, it means that he thinks taking it is more beneficial for you than not being treated. The drug may or may not cause side effects, while if left untreated, the disease can worsen, cause adverse changes in the body or cause complications. After colon cancer surgery I had a series of 5 infusions of platinum and then after each 3 weeks of Xeloda pills, The treatment was successful in mid-2020, the current results indicate a cure, but the remaining symptoms I described ( cotton wool on the feet , stinging around the nose, pain in the leg muscles, especially in stretching exercises), which I treated with Lyrica pills - without success) and the drug Dulsevia ( which I had to quickly discontinue - malaise ), I currently have a rewritten Faxolet ER, but the description of its operation is disturbing. Please ew other tips e.g. alpha-lipoic acid in the treatment of neuropathy Thank you
