What drugs can be used for inflammatory bowel disease with constipation?

Are there prescription drugs available in Poland for inflammatory small intestine with constipation? If so, please provide their name. What can you buy at the pharmacy for constipation caused by the aforementioned inflammation?

To @ Edyta: If there are indications for the use of antibiotic therapy, azithromycin can be used in people with inflammatory bowel diseases, including active Crohn's disease. According to the available literature, azithromycin is used m.in in traveler's diarrhea in people with inflammatory bowel diseases. It should reduce possible diarrheal symptoms.

Edyta (Anonymous, 37.248.157.) 2 years ago

Yes I know, I understand. I just mean whether this antibiotic from the nitrrimycin group, e.g. Azitrolek, can be used for inflammatory bowel disease - Crohn? At this point, I have to have an antibiotic in the form of a suspension and all others, e.g. Metronidazole or Cipronex are in the form of tablets. I have already taken azotrimycin in suspension for another disease entity and it helped me a lot. But my point now is whether it can be used at all in the case of the active form of Crohn's? Will it help specifically for this disease?

To @ Edyta: The occurrence of inflammatory bowel disease is not a contraindication to the use of an antibiotic containing azithromycin. Your doctor will assess the validity of the recommendation to use an antibiotic. Azithromycin is used m.in in infections of the lower and upper respiratory tract, acute otitis media, skin infections. I send an example description of the drug containing azithromycin: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/75418/sumamed-tabletki-powlekane/apteki

Is it possible to use an antibiotic from the azotrimycin group in the active form of inflammatory bowel disease?

For @Weronika: According to the manufacturer's description, Salofalk tablets are round, dull, with a smooth surface. Unfortunately, their size was not given.

Weronika (Anonymous, 37.248.158.) 3 years ago

Are Saloflak tablets difficult to swallow? How big are they?

To @Ewelina: If the measures used cause only a temporary improvement, I encourage you to consult your doctor. I encourage you to read our study on constipation. There you will find tips for treating constipation: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/zaparcia-jak-z-nimi-walczyc

I have chronic constipation. I take Duspatalin retard and Duphalac, but it helps only a small amount. In addition, mom is allergic to macrogols. What to do to make constipation stop bothering me?

Thank you:)

If you are allergic to macrogols, of course they should not be used. Pikopil stimulates the movements of the intestine. This can cause worsening of the symptoms of abdominal pain: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/93852/pikopil-krople/ulotka/236341 Duphalac, on the other hand, softens the stool and facilitates its movement in the intestines: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/25616/duphalac-plyn/ulotka/62875 The use of Duphalac should not intensify abdominal pain. In the event that such occurs, it is recommended to reduce the dose. Determining which preparation would be more suitable for you requires further research results. After further research, it is likely to be determined which exact section the inflammation is affected by. In the event that it will be the final section of the small intestine, it may be Asamax, and in the case when the earlier sections are perhaps Salofalk. At the same time, as I mentioned, the final decision will be made by the doctor after determining which section of the intestine the inflammation concerns.

Thank you for your extensive explanations. Please let me know what kind of medication for constipation I can replace drugs with macrogols = I am allergic to them: I vomit very much and I get a rash after taking tycg drugs, e.g. Forlax, Dicopec, DulcoSoft, Moxalole, Duphagon. Can I, for example, take Pikopil or Duphalac? Which drug do you think will help more with inflammation of the small intestine: Asamax or Salofalk? Is Asamax and Salofalk also used in the treatment of ulcerative inflammation of the small intestine?

Most often, inflammatory bowel disease is associated with diarrhea. Unfortunately, I did not find a type of inflammatory bowel disease with constipation. However, the procedure described below should bring relief from constipation. Changing the diet, physical activity and the introduction of preparations regulating the work of the digestive tract with fiber and macrogols should make it easier to maintain the regularity of bowel movements. From the described case, it appears that in the intestines there are probably also disorders of the intestinal flora (since antibiotics bring relief) and inflammation (nimesil relieves ailments). You can additionally use probiotics recommended for inflammation of the intestines, such as Vivomixx (https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/89924/vivomixx-proszek-do-wytworzenia-zawiesiny/apteki/w-polsce) It is necessary to carry out further diagnostics (such as colonoscopy) in order to specifically diagnose the disease entity. Only then is it possible to assess which recommended treatment regimen should be right for you. However, referring to the issue of Asamax. In Asamax, the active substance is mesalazine. Mesalazine has a direct anti-inflammatory effect at the inflamed site. From Asamax, mesalazine is absorbed in the final section of the small intestine and the initial section of the large intestine: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/7585/asamax-500-tabletki-tabletki/ulotka/87150 Salofalk is also available with mesalazine. In this case, it has an effect on inflammation in any section of the intestines (due to the excipients used): https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/68637/salofalk-500-tabletki-tabletki/ulotka/4480 It is not indicated that constipation is a contraindication to the listed preparations. They have a local anti-inflammatory effect, not antidiarrheal. Referring to the increased level of calprotectin in the feces, it may result from m.in Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, recurrent Clostridium difficile infections. A full assessment of the causes of elevated results requires an extension of diagnostics. Recommended preparations for inflammatory bowel disease (such as ulcerative colitis) are described in the articles: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/wrzodziejace-zapalenie-jelita-grubego https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/choroba-crohna

I do not mean irritable bowel syndrome. The doctor suspects inflammation of the small intestine. I have very severe abdominal pain, which often wakes me up at night, sometimes I also have a subfebrile state or even over 38 degrees C. But this ailment is accompanied by constipation and not diarrhea as it is in enteritis, so I wonder if it is possible? Only antibiotics of the type: Bactrim, Metronidazole, Cipropol help. With severe abdominal pain Nimesil. I have significantly elevated levels of calprotectin in my feces. The doctor suspects inflammation of the small intestine or ulcerative inflammation of the small intestine. I am in the process of diagnostics. From what I read on the Internet, for enteritis, for example, mesalazine or e.g. Asamax, is used, but I do not have diarrhea only persistent constipation. So can Asamax also be used in enteritis with constipation? Can enteritis have a constipation form? In connection with what I mentioned, I would like to ask if there are any drugs available in Poland for inflammation of the small intestine / or / ulcerative cystitis? If so, please provide their names.

Which particular disease do you have in mind? In the event that the question concerns irritable bowel syndrome with predominant constipation, please read on. According to available scientific publications and current guidelines, it is recommended to use soluble fiber (such as plantain) for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with predominant constipation (type IBS-C). It is also recommended to limit the use of preparations that cause adverse symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract, such as onions or garlic. In the alleviation of constipation, it is recommended to use macrogols, such as over-the-counter preparations available in online and stationary pharmacies m.in.: - Forlax: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/30975/forlax-10-g-proszek-do-wytworzenia-plynu/apteka-internetowa https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/30975/forlax-10-g-proszek-do-wytworzenia-plynu/apteki/w-polsce - Xenna Balance: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/84600/xenna-balance-proszek-do-wytworzenia-plynu/apteka-internetowa https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/84600/xenna-balance-proszek-do-wytworzenia-plynu/apteki/w-polsce New preparations, not yet available in Poland, with documented effectiveness in severe courses of the disease with predominant constipation, are lubiproston, linaclotide, plecanatide. On the other hand, diastolic preparations are commonly used, m.in with drotaverine, such as No-Spa (https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/54554/no-spa-tabletki/apteka-internetowa) or with hyoscine such as Buscopan (https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/14198/buscopan-tabletki-powlekane/apteka-internetowa). In some cases, it is also recommended to use preparations from the group of tricyclic antidepressants or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Their use depends on the patient's reaction to the previously introduced treatment.
