There is no need to take a long time between Atrovent (ipratropium bromide) and inhaled Budesonide, but the order and method of use are important:
Atrovent: It is a bronchodilator and should be used first. It facilitates the opening of the airways, which increases the effectiveness of the anti-inflammatory drug.
Budesonide: It is a steroid drug that reduces inflammation. It should be used after Atrovent because the open bronchi allow the medicine to reach the lungs better.
A short interval of about 5 minutes is enough between the administration of these drugs for Atrovent to work effectively. If you have any doubts about how to use the prescribed medications, it is worth discussing this with your attending physician. Also, remember to rinse your mouth after Budesonide to avoid side effects such as thrush.
