Amotaks nie należy do grupy makrolidów. Substancją czynną leku jest amoksycylina, która należy do grupy antybiotyków zwanych „penicylinami”.

Nie mam informacji, aby antybiotyki "chroniły płuca przed COVID". COVID-19 to choroba wirusowa. Antybiotyki nie leczą COVID, ponieważ działają na bakterie i nie mają wskazań do stosowania w profilaktyce tej choroby. Mogą zostać włączone u pacjenta zakażonego, jeżeli istnieje zagrożenie lub podejrzenie współistnienia infekcji bakteryjnej płuc w przebiegu COVID-19.
