Desmoxan is a drug used to treat nicotine addiction, the active ingredient of which is cytisine. Cytisine has a stimulating effect on the nervous center and increases the secretion of adrenaline and blood pressure. In patients with epilepsy, this drug has the potential to affect the nervous system in a way that could theoretically increase the risk of epileptic seizures, especially if the epilepsy was inactive.
Therefore, people with a history of epilepsy should only use Desmoxan after consulting a neurologist who will assess the individual risk and possibly suggest alternative methods to quit smoking.
