According to the latest knowledge, EllaOne can be taken at any time during the cycle.
EllaOne works mainly by delaying ovulation, which is why its effectiveness is highest if taken before ovulation. After ovulation, EllaOne is much less effective because its main mechanism of action (delaying the release of an egg) can no longer work.
It can still have some effect on the endometrium (lining of the uterus), which could theoretically make it difficult for a fertilized egg to implant, but this is not its main mechanism of action.
It is important to take the pill up to 120 hours after intercourse, which was the case in your case.
