Good morning
My son was given an indication to use Sumamed 200mg/5ml in suspension, 7.5ml per day.
When preparing the suspension, I added lukewarm water, which does not burn for humans. It is possible that the water was too warm, because the suspension did not want to form and there are lumps in it.
I gave my son the first dose of the drug.
Is it possible that the drug has become inactive and my son should start treatment from the beginning, using a new drug?

I don't know what capacity of Sumamedu you have, but please make sure that you have added the right amount of water.
Warm – not hot water is suitable for preparing such a solution. However, if you haven't managed to get rid of the lumps, you may have mixed the ingredients too poorly or added too little water.
According to the manufacturer:
'Sumamed forte, powder for 20 ml oral suspension
Add 12 ml of water to the powder bottle - you will get 25 ml of homogeneous suspension. Bottle
contains 5 ml of excess suspension to ensure complete dosing. 5 ml of suspension contains 200 mg of azithromycin.
Sumamed forte, powder for 30 ml oral suspension
Add 16.5 ml of water to the bottle of powder - you will get 35 ml of homogeneous suspension. The bottle contains 5 ml excess suspension to ensure complete dosing. 5 ml of suspension contains 200 mg of azithromycin.
Sumamed forte powder for 37.5 ml oral suspension
Add 20 ml of water to the bottle of powder - you will get 42.5 ml of homogeneous suspension. The bottle contains 5 ml excess suspension to ensure complete dosing. Shake the suspension before each use!"
To minimize the risk of lumps, add water gradually, shaking the bottle each time.
