How long after the last dose of Sumamed can you return to Trittico?
12.99 zł

Good morning. I've been taking 1/3 of the tablets for two months. The doctor prescribed me sumamed for infection. Two days ago I took the last third pill. While taking sumamed, I stopped taking trittico because of the interactions I read (the doctor didn't mention anything about it). When can I continue with the trittico?

If you mean an increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias, you can return to Trittico about 5-7 days after the last Sumamed tablet.

It has been found that the therapeutic concentration (i.e. quite high) of azithromycin in tissues persists for about 5-7 days after the last oral dose, while complete elimination of the drug may take up to about 17 days. However, since the concentration of the antibiotic in the blood is low after 5-7 days, the risk of possible interaction after this time is already negligible.

However, you should usually not stop treatment with Trittco preparations without consulting your doctor. Although an increased risk of a side effect has been described, there is no certainty that it will occur in your case – this is probably why the doctor did not mention the interaction and did not order you to stop taking the drug. In such situations, it is usually enough to observe the body's reaction.
