Yes, the measles vaccine can be taken by any adult who was not vaccinated in childhood. Vaccination should also be considered by people who are not sure whether they have undergone a series of vaccinations and have not suffered from measles in childhood – usually these are people born before 1975. The vaccine should be taken primarily by those who are currently at risk of measles virus infection, e.g. those working in kindergartens, schools, health care facilities.
There are so-called MMR vaccines, combined vaccines against measles, mumps, rubella. To achieve immunity at the level of 95-99%, 2 doses of the vaccine should be taken at 4-week intervals.
