No, Shingrix is indicated for the prevention of herpes zoster (HZ) and post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) in people aged 50 years and older. Shingrix should be used in accordance with official recommendations.
The virus responsible for shingles is VZV (varicella zoster virus). Shingles occurs in patients who have had chickenpox and the virus has reactivated (e.g. as a result of weakened immunity). The virus responsible for herpes is herpes simplex virus 2 - another type of virus. Research on a vaccine against herpes has been underway for many years, but such a preparation is not yet available on the market.
