There is no specific time after which visual disturbances may occur when using hydroxychloroquine. Side effects may occur several months or years after starting to use the drug, or they may not occur at all. Therefore, in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine, ophthalmological examinations must be repeated at least every 6 months.
