Is the drug capsule Auroxetyn can be opened?
12.99 zł

My almost 7-year-old son is prescribed auroxetine 10. Unfortunately, despite many attempts, he is not able to swallow a pill. Can you pour the powder on a spoon and serve it mixed with water? The leaflet says that the medicine must not be opened. Thank you for your reply

Unfortunately, according to the manufacturer: "you should not open the capsules, spill their contents or take them in any other way".

Spilling the contents of the Auroxetin capsule and ingestion, e.g. in a small amount of water on a spoon, does not affect the absorption of the drug and theoretically it would be possible to administer the drug in this way if the child is unable to swallow the capsule. However, according to the manufacturer - "The capsules should not be opened. Atomoxetine is irritating to the eyes. If the contents of the capsules come into contact with the eye, the affected eye should be rinsed immediately with water and medical advice should be sought. Hands and any potentially contaminated surfaces should be washed as soon as possible."

Because of the danger to the eyes, do not open the capsule with the medicine.

Perhaps it is worth giving the capsule with food? Do not open the capsule, but administer it during a solid meal. Here you will find some interesting tips:
