Why has Ventolin, a medicine necessary for people suffering from shortness of breath, ceased to be a reimbursed drug? Nearly PLN 40 per package is a real tragedy for pensioners with low benefits. Are the times of the Polish People's Republic coming back with the popular slogan "Pensioners, support the party with deeds, die before the deadline"? I am really shocked, because until recently it was a reimbursed drug.

Ventolin, despite being an important bronchodilator for people with shortness of breath, is no longer fully reimbursed for all patients as of January 1, 2025, which means that patients must pay full price for it.
The reason for the loss of reimbursement by Ventolin is, m.in, formal and financial issues, such as the lack of application for reimbursement extension by the manufacturer or too high price of the drug.
I would like to point out that there are equivalents of Ventolin available on the market. They contain the same substance, in the same dose and are reimbursed, e.g. Aspulmo:
