Does telmisartan 20 mg lower blood pressure?

Hello, I was prescribed tolurar with a dose of 20mg, I was told to divide 40mg in half.after some time I read that tolurar must not be divided in half. My question is, did this 20mg have any effect on my hypertension at all?

Tolura is a preparation containing telmisartan, a substance used, m.in, in the treatment of hypertension. According to the package leaflet:

"The usual effective dose is 40 mg once a day. In some patients, improvement may occur as early as 20 mg. In the absence of satisfactory blood pressure-lowering effects, the dose of telmisartan may be increased to 80 mg once daily."

Splitting the Tolura 40 mg tablet may result in an uneven halving of the dose, which may result in over/underdose.

The effectiveness of the preparation should be assessed by performing regular blood pressure measurements. If you have any doubts about the medication you are taking, I encourage you to consult your doctor again. You can also take advantage of teleconsultation, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
