Azithromycin belongs to a group of macrolides that may inhibit the enzyme (citrochrome P450 CYP3A4) responsible for the metabolism of rimegepant. This means that when using macrolide antibiotics at the same time as Vydura, the side effects of Vydura may be exacerbated.
Not all macrolides have significant interactions with drugs metabolised by the CYP 3A4 enzyme, and this is the case with azithromycin. According to the drug documentation, azithromycin does not have significant interactions with the cytochrome P450 system, which are observed in other macrolides.
Combining Vydura and azithromycin is not contraindicated. When using these drugs at the same time, it is worth being careful and observing the body for possible side effects.
