Shingrix is a vaccine used to prevent infection with the VZV virus, which causes shingles and chickenpox. It is not an indicated vaccine for the prevention of infection with the herpes labialis virus (HSV-1).
VZV and HSV-1 belong to the same family of herpesviruses, but Shingrix is not approved for use as a vaccine against the HSV-1 herpes virus.
