How long will Mounjaro Kwikpen 15mg last at 2.5mg?

Each Mounjaro 15 mg kwikpen contains 4 doses of 15 mg for use over 4 weeks of treatment as instructed and recommended in the summary of product characteristics. Kwikpen should be disposed of 30 days after opening (during this time it can be stored outside the refrigerator). At the time of administration, the drug should be at room temperature, so remember to remove the pen from the refrigerator at least one hour before injection. The 2.5 mg dose is available on the market as a separate drug. Administering a fraction of the higher dose is a practice contrary to the manufacturer's recommendations because:

- there is no certainty about the precision of the dose measurement ("clicks" are an approximate form of assessing the amount of the drug)

- if the drug is used for more than 30 days after opening, the manufacturer does not guarantee its effectiveness, purity and safety of the treatment (risk of decomposition of the medicinal substance, reduced effectiveness, skin infection)

- Each time before injection, the drug must reach room temperature, otherwise it will be poorly distributed in the tissue, which translates into a reduction in the effectiveness of the treatment. Repeated temperature changes may affect the stability of the medicinal substance, especially when the drug is used beyond the expiry date.
