Information contained in the summary of product characteristics:
"Denofix treatment should not be initiated until the acute gout attack has completely resolved. Gout exacerbation may occur during initiation of treatment due to changes in serum uric acid levels resulting from the release of urate from tissue deposits.
When starting treatment, prophylaxis with NSAIDs or colchicine against gout exacerbations is recommended for at least 6 months.
If gout flares occur during treatment with Denofix, the product should not be discontinued. Gout exacerbations can be treated at the same time in a way that is appropriate for the individual patient.
Consistent treatment with Denofix reduces the frequency and severity of gout flare-ups."
To sum up: muscle and joint pain is a common side effect observed by patients using Denofix. In the event of pain, it is advisable to take painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It should be remembered that long-term use of NSAIDs can put a strain on the stomach, so the drugs must be taken with a meal and the treatment should be as short as possible. The inclusion of other medicines such as Colchican should be discussed with your treating doctor.
