Both Thiocodin and Sinecod are indicated for use in the treatment of dry, persistent cough. Thiocodin syrup can be used in children over 12 years of age, and Sinecod in children from 3 years of age. Regardless of the choice, each of them should effectively relieve dry cough. However, if the child coughs up mucus during coughing, it is a wet cough and other medications should be used to facilitate expectoration.
It is impossible to tell without any information whether a child has tracheitis and/or pharyngitis. Cough can of course accompany this type of inflammation, but its occurrence can also be associated with a common cold (viral infection) or allergy. I also do not know if you observe other ailments in your child, e.g. fever, sore throat, weakness. I recommend consulting a doctor who will examine the child and be able to make a proper diagnosis. He or she will prescribe appropriate medicinal preparations if necessary. As pharmacists, we do not have the competence to diagnose.
