If I have difficulty swallowing a Respero Myrtol tablet, can I chew it? (I know that the leaflet says that this medicine should be swallowed whole). Can chewing a tablet weaken the effect of this medicine or cause any side effects?

Do not chew a Respero Myrtol capsule, even if you have difficulty swallowing the medicine. The mixture of essential oils contained inside the capsule, after escaping outside the shell (e.g. by chewing), can cause irritation of the esophagus and mouth.
Take this medicine with plenty of liquid, about half an hour before a meal.
