Ozempic and Wegovy contain the same active substance. Drugs differ in therapeutic indications because:
- Ozempic - The preparation is indicated for use as monotherapy for adults with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes or in combination with other medicinal products that lower glycaemia.
- Wegovy - It is used to treat complicated overweight and obesity, along with a reduced-calorie diet and exercise, to reduce and maintain body weight.
Both preparations are injected 1 time a week. The maximum dose for Ozempic is 1 mg and for Wegovy is 2.4 mg. When losing weight, the drug Wegovy should be used. It is very important to introduce a proper diet and physical exercise to lose weight.
