Hello, please help. I have had an acute pulmonary embolism. I take the eliquis 2x5.
My back hurts, I have like tingling, e.g. in my hands.
I read that eliquis can cause hematomas around the spine, peritoneum, etc. What tests to perform. Should you see a haematologist?

Eliquis (apixaban) increases the risk of bleeding, including paravertebral hematomas, which can compress nerves and cause neurological symptoms such as tingling. However, back pain and tingling in the hands can also be symptoms not directly related to the drug.
Blood tests, including blood counts and coagulation parameters, are recommended to assess the condition of the blood. In order to rule out complications such as paravertebral hematomas, it is recommended to take X-rays or magnetic resonance imaging.
A visit to a haematologist may be warranted to assess the risk of bleeding and to monitor the effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy. If you experience any alarming symptoms, such as sudden back pain or difficulty breathing, contact your doctor immediately.
I encourage you to report the symptoms you experience to your doctor, as well as to report the occurrence of an adverse effect of the preparation. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over medicines available on the market. We wrote more about how and why to report side effects in the article:
