Good morning
Can seizures, which are listed as one of the rare but serious side effects of Bactrim, be mistaken for a seizure?
Is it possible to distinguish these 2 attacks in any way?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Convulsions associated with Bactrim may resemble an epileptic seizure, but they differ in the mechanism by which they occur. Seizures caused by drugs such as Bactrim usually result from toxic effects on the nervous system and are often associated with other symptoms such as changes in electrolyte levels or kidney failure. An epileptic seizure, on the other hand, results from abnormal electrical activity in the brain. The key differentiating factor is the presence of an underlying disease, such as epilepsy, and specific neurological test results.
