Ditropan (oxybutynin) has a relaxant effect on the bladder muscles, but it can also slow down intestinal peristalsis, which can increase constipation. Although the urologist concluded that it did not affect the intestines, the drug leaflet lists constipation as a possible side effect. In the case of constipation-predominantly IBS, it is worth consulting a gastroenterologist to assess the benefit-risk balance and possibly consider alternative treatments.
