From November 7, 2024, a prescription for morphine can be issued by a doctor after a personal examination of the patient, except in the case of continuation of treatment by a primary care physician (POZ). A primary care physician may issue a prescription as part of the continuation of treatment if the patient is under his or her constant care.
A prescription for morphine sulfate drugs is classified as a "narcotic" prescription, intended for narcotic substances. Doctors have no restrictions related to their specialty when it comes to prescribing morphine drugs. However, this does not mean that the doctor is obliged to issue a prescription at the patient's request.
