Cordarone is used in the treatment of arrhythmias, but it also has a blood pressure-lowering effect (it reduces peripheral resistance of blood vessels and additionally slows down the heart rate).
Indications for the use of the drug:
- arrhythmias in the course of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
- atrial fibrillation and flutter, paroxysmal supraventricular tachyarrhythmias: supraventricular and nodal tachycardia, when other medications cannot be used
- treatment of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation) when other antiarrhythmic drugs are ineffective.
