Good morning.
I heard that during the Maviret treatment you cannot eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. Is this true and does it also apply to other citrus fruits?

Yes, this is because grapefruit juice contains furanocoumarins (naringin, bergamotine), which are strong inhibitors of the CYP3A4 enzyme (they inhibit its action), which is responsible for the metabolism of Maviret. As a result, this may increase the concentration of the drug in the blood and thus increase the risk of side effects. Therefore, you should avoid consuming grapefruit and the juice containing it, as well as pomelo. Caution should also be exercised with sour oranges, lemons or limes.
