Should I continue to use Sorderol 30,000 in a 92-year-old patient with frequent fractures, with a dosage of 8 tablets once a week, without prior osteoporosis testing?

how long to take Sorderol 30,000 (recommended 8 tabl. once a week). My mother, 92 years old, had frequent fractures (the doctor did not order a test for osteroporosis). Should I continue?

The vitamin D dosage for a person aged 92 years, amounting to 240,000 IU (8 tabl. of 30,000IU), may be too high.

The recommended daily doses of vitamin D for seniors over 75 years of age are between 2000 and 4000 IU per day, which is a maximum of 28,000 IU per week.

In this situation, I encourage you to consult your doctor again before starting such a high supplementation in order to adjust the dose to the individual needs of the patient and to carry out appropriate tests of vitamin D levels in the blood. It is also worth considering diagnostics, e.g. densitometry. This can help to adjust therapy, especially in elderly people with frequent fractures.
