Is it safe to combine Toramide 20 mg and Milurit 300 mg, given that I have previously used Furosemide and have elevated uric acid levels?

Hello, I have been taking furosemide at a dose of 2×80mg for 10 years, recently I started to have symptoms of gout, urate acid increased in blood results, now the doctor prescribed me instead of forasemide, the drug Toramide20mg and Milurit300, as I read it is a lot, there is an opinion not to combine these 2 drugs, can someone comment on this topic, thank you

Furosemide is a powerful diuretic that can increase uric acid levels in the blood, which sometimes leads to gout. Toramide (torasemide) is a similar diuretic, but its effects are slightly milder than those of furosemide and may have less effect on uric acid levels. Switching to Toramide may be beneficial, as it may cause a smaller increase in uric acid levels.

Milurit (allopurinol) is used to treat gout because it lowers uric acid levels in the blood.

As for the combination of these two drugs (Toramide and Milurit), there are usually no contraindications to their use together, but caution is advised. Torasemide may reduce the excretion of uric acid by the kidneys, which could theoretically affect the effectiveness of Milurite, as this medicine works best when uric acid levels are properly controlled. Therefore, it is imperative that your doctor monitors your test results and adjusts your medication doses as needed.

It's always a good idea to discuss any concerns with your treating doctor, who knows your full health history and can adjust your treatment accordingly. Additionally, be sure to have regular checkups to monitor uric acid levels and other health parameters that may be related to taking diuretics and Milurite.
