I'm 19t, I have bacteria in my urine that only a few antibiotics work on and Urotrim was prescribed to me, I'm terribly afraid that I will harm my child with this drug. Are there any strong complications for the child when taking this drug?

Urotrim should only be used in pregnant women if it is strictly indicated, so the need for such treatment should be discussed directly with the treating doctor.
Animal studies have shown the potential for adverse reactions in the foetus, but this conclusion has not been confirmed in pregnant women (or has not been performed). Due to the lack of data, the use of the drug in pregnant women is discouraged.
Information contained in the summary of product characteristics:
"Trimethoprim crosses the placenta and its safety in pregnant women has not been established.
Case-control studies have shown that there is a possible relationship between exposure to folic acid antagonists and the occurrence of foetal damage in humans. Trimethoprim is a folic acid antagonist, and animal studies have shown developmental disorders in the foetus. Trimethoprim should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, unless clearly necessary. If it is necessary to use it in a pregnant patient, administration of the acid should be considered.
