Can I use oseltamivir before surgery under general anesthesia> Can I stop taking the drug if I have 4 tablets left and I feel unwell after taking it?

Hello, my 8-year-old son fell ill with the flu, he got oseltamivir, I got it prophylactically, I am a week before the operation under general anesthesia, should I postpone the procedure in this case. I will also add that after the pill I feel bad, I have 4 of them left, can I stop using it, the child is already finishing the treatment.

In the case of prophylactic use of oseltamivir, it may be possible to discontinue the treatment, especially if you feel unwell after taking the drug. However, it is worth making a decision in consultation with a doctor, who will individually assess whether the risk associated with discontinuing the treatment is lower than the potential side effects.

Oseltamivir alone should not have a significant effect on general anaesthesia, but you should always tell your doctor performing the procedure about all the medicines you are taking.
