It is worth discussing with a psychiatrist the possibility of using other antidepressants, because taking laxatives will not ultimately solve the problem of drug-induced constipation. A fast-acting remedy are suppositories for constipation, e.g. Dulcobis, EvaQ. The laxative effect occurs on average about 20-40 minutes after application. These types of preparations (especially Dulcobis) should be applied occasionally. Long-term use may cause electrolyte disturbances, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
